In my last blog I wrote about making health your #1 priority and investment in life. Today I want to touch upon a study that looked at those who choose to make their health a priority through chiropractic care and the results of that study.
Quoted directly from the Journal of Manipulative Physiological Therapeutics the results of this 7-year study by Richard Sarnat, MD are as follows:
“Clinical and cost utilization based on 70274 member-months over a 7-year period demonstrated decreases of 60.2% in-hospital admissions, 59.0% hospital days, 62.0% outpatient surgeries and procedures, and 85% pharmaceutical costs when compared with conventional medicine performance for the same health maintenance organization product in the same geography and time frame.”(1)
In summary, those who choose chiropractic care had less hospital visits, surgery and prescription drugs. Just think about this for a moment…
When we consciously make investing in our health our #1 priority, think about this study and apply it to a whole community, a city, an entire province or state or across the nation! Think about how much healthier we would be! Now combine this study for those under chiropractic care with eating well and exercising regularly and now imagine the tremendous impact a nation could have if this were the case. And for those economists out there, think how much money this could save us if we made health #1 (more on this on a future blog). Isn’t this mind blowing?!
See today, you have a choice. You can choose to sit back and do nothing or you can choose to do something proactive for yourself, in fact do something right now. Get up and grab an apple instead of the chips, set a plan in motion to train for a 2km, 5km, or for the more ambitious ones a half marathon race, or better yet decide to see what this whole chiropractic wellness thing is about and get your spine checked or get back under care if you haven’t been to your chiropractor in a long time. Every day is a choice where you can choose to move towards health or move towards sickness & disease by doing nothing. Did I say this would be easy? No. When it comes to optimal wellness for your body, it will always take work and it will always require some sort of sacrifice on your part. So the question I want you to ask yourself is, “am I worth it?”
