Investing into your health is the greatest investment of them all. More important than your finances, more important than relationships, more important than your career, more important than any other thing in your entire life! WOW. Does that sound a little extreme? It might, but please follow me here to understand where I am coming from.
Every single new patient that comes through my office I ask them a simple question, “what is the single most important asset that each of you personally own?” Immediately, I see their eyes turn up and they start thinking…my house, my business, my family, etc. But to their surprise I tell them it’s none of those. The answer to that question is, “YOUR HEALTH.” Your health is the single most important asset you own. When you truly think about it, if you didn’t have your health does it matter how great your relationships with your family and friends are? You could have the best relationships with you wife and children and all your friends, but if you don’t have your health, what do you have? Or how much money you have in your bank account? You could be a billionaire and be the greatest philanthropist, but if you don’t have your health how can you truly enjoy giving back and serving the world? Or how successful you are in your career? Again, you could be a great CEO leading the most desirable Fortune 500 Company in the world, but if you don’t have your health, what do you truly have? I hope you see my point here. Health is #1, period.
The problem is most of us put health in the back burner and don’t give it much attention until it’s too late. Most start to invest in their health when it’s past the point of no return. Your health must be a priority in your life from the very start if you want to live a long and fruitful life. It’s like saving for retirement. You don’t start saving for retirement in your 60’s because you’ll have next to nothing to live on when you are on your own. Everyone knows we need to start saving up in our 20’s and 30’s. And just like health, if you start to invest into it in your 50’s or 60’s it could be too late and disease processes could well be on it’s way. This is why the average Canadian is living their last 10 years of their life in sickness & disease! (see video below) Health must be a primary focus from the very beginning of life. Everything from eating to exercising to, you guessed it; chiropractic, needs to be a part of everyone’s lifestyle. In my next blog I am going to touch upon an awesome study showing the long term effect of those who have undertaken chiropractic as a lifestyle choice. Stay tuned!
